Go Detroit is an innovation challenge, sponsored by Ford, designed to stimulate new ideas and find better ways to connect Detroit communities through mobile solutions. The challenge was to identify transportation issues faced by Detroiters and provide mobile app solutions to improve safety, access and availability of transportation solutions.
RIIS developers accepted the challenge and have developed and launched the first, all-in–one Detroit Public Transit System mobile app complete with bus routes and stops for Ddot, Smart and RefleX buses.
The mobile app, ETA Detroit, was designed to consolidate all the transit schedules into one easy mobile app for simple navigation around Detroit. All bus stops and routes are displayed in addition to a map for easier navigation. ETA Detroit also includes a trip planner with walking directions to the nearest stop, total trip time and distance which pulls in information from each of the Bus Companies.

The all-inclusive app will give users all the information they need to map out their bus route in one convenient app. We think this mobile app will save Detroiters time and frustration trying to work out multiple schedules on multiple apps”.

Future plans for ETA Detroit include adding the People Mover, QLine as well as incorporating bus times. We are currently working on an iOS app.
