RIIS Team Brings Home the Gold at Context.IO Hackathon
RIIS’ Apprentice team demonstrated their development excellence at the Context.IO Hackathon earning the coveted Large Organization Recognition Award. The competition opened in May with judging in September and winners announced on October 15. A total of eight awards were issued but with more than 50 employees, RIIS was limited to the single category that we won. What does being a Tableau Alliance Partner mean for RIIS?
The challenge centered on creating a working mobile or browser-based application using the Context.IO API. Context.IO is a RESTful API that connects email servers enabling developers to build apps on top of user’s email data. The RIIS team employed these capabilities to solve one of the most persistent challenges of sales force automation and customer relationship management systems: capturing email correspondence with contacts in the system.
Our solution, SugarSync, automatically imports and associates Gmail messages between salespeople and contacts in SugarCRM improving the accuracy and comprehensiveness of sales opportunity and contact records and freeing the team to spend more time selling and less time on administration. Prior to the development of this tool, RIIS sales professionals had to manually cut and paste correspondence into SugarCRM to accomplish this same task.
While the entry focused on the SugarCRM and Gmail pairing, the core architecture and approach is applicable for any IMAP or Exchange email server and CRM platform. Visit http://devpost.com/software/context-io-sugarsync to watch a three minute video demonstration of the application.
RIIS Apprentices are recent college graduates brought onboard for a paid training engagement to help them to transition their skills from academia to real world application. Apprentices work on internal projects and those that demonstrate their capabilities, graduate into full time employment and client projects.
